On July 1st, Emma Packard will begin her journey as Associate Director of Outreach/DeafBlind, as she steps up to lead the Washington DeafBlind Program. After ten years of statewide leadership, I am stepping down.
It has been an honor to serve in the field of deaf and deafblind education and family support for forty years, including language acquisition, early support for infants and toddlers, and statewide services for deafblind children and their families.
The WA DeafBlind Program is in good hands. Please join me in welcoming Emma Packard, who was previously the Professional Development Coordinator with this program. She has many years of experience in education, as a Teacher of Blind and Low Vision Learners, an Orientation & Mobility specialist, and a DeafBlind consultant. She is an amazing person, colleague and leader in education.
Thanks, everyone. Reach out to share memories or thoughts.
All the best,
Katie Humes
