Well, it’s January. Slowly, the light is returning, even if cold weather is here!

I just learned that January is Mental Wellness Month. All of us need reminders of wellness and ways to seek balance. Balance of self and family, work and sleep. According to the Global Wellness Institute, “Mental wellness is an internal resource that helps us think, feel, connect and function; it is an active process that helps us to build resilience, grow and flourish.”

Here is a resource from the Usher Syndrome (USH) Coalition: https://www.usher-syndrome.org/resources/living-with-usher-syndrome/mental-health.html?blm_aid=3192904

What’s happening this month?

So far, 50 people are registered for the Winter Cohort of Open Hands, Open Access modules, which begins January 22nd.

Yesterday, Kathee Scoggin and Emma Packard started their 4-part Webinar: “What’s Communication got to do with It? Everything!”

Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) is hosting a webinar on January 24th to explain the new ESIT DeafBlind Practice Guide, with Nancy Hatfield, early childhood consultant and Emma Packard, DeafBlind specialist on the panel.

On the horizon:

Our staff will be at the Pacific NW AER Conference in Tacoma in March, and at the Infant and Early Childhood Conference in May. Stay tuned!

We are pleased to announce that Tracey Bjerke is joining us this month as our new administrative assistant. Welcome, Tracey!

I hope you and yours stay warm and cozy and remember to reach out anytime.
